It was brought to my attention today that there seems to be some sort of a rift between the NYHL Executives and the KLEVR League’s blueprint design!! Understanding that the NYHL plays under the rules of HOCKEY CANADA where certain age groups have to play 1/2 ice until they reach a certain age, where the KLEVR League doesn’t follow that decision.
This of course has gotten parents and Executives whose kids are part of the NYHL umbrella where KIDS have to play house league and select up in arms. My understanding is the NYHL wants to dictate to GTHL and OMHA the rules regarding these kids and say they shouldn’t be allowed to come back into HOCKEY CANADA sanctioned Leagues in other words BLACKBALL the KIDS who played in the KLEVR League.
This of course in my opinion is absolutely CRAZY. We are talking about the KIDS going to be playing U10 for various different organizations and that they seem to say they are something other than KIDS!! Similar situation happened to one of my KIDS now playing in the NHL. The GTHL and OHA wouldn’t give a 14 yr old his release when there was a dispute between me and the COACH/ Owner of our team as it was leased out for the year. I tried to argue that KIDS should not be held hostage in anybody’s league or any particular team, but the geniuses in both GTHL and OHA blocked the release therefore, causing my son to miss the latter part of his Bantam year.
Getting back to KLEVR. The owners of that League came up with a blueprint that differed from the HOCKEY CANADA decision for KIDS to be playing half ice until they reach U10. Of course, once KIDS reach U10 they have to go back to either the GTHL , OMHA, or ALLIANCE. Those KIDS that play in the KLEVR League obviously play on full ice, and in most cases are surrounded with KIDS that may have better developement in those early years.
I stated this years ago and finally a decision was made to have OPEN BORDERS to for KIDS regardless of where they reside. Having the closed borders always introduced nefarious ways to get around it by using ” we are divorced” as probably the most used excuse to get around it. Now , people can be at ease, but still certain people are still up in arms.
If parents decide to have their KIDS play in a league that I’m sure has better competition, and costs a whole lot more not with just $$, but with time then who are they to dictate where the KIDS should be allowed to play. The last time I checked there wasn’t anybody playing in the NHL at U10. I believe that Jealousy is top of the list when it comes to why they are up in arms.
No parent should be jealous of any other KID playing with or against yours. For God’s sake they are KIDS, let them be kids. I have had the fortune to see many, many, KIDS be a whole lot better than most KIDS in NA at certain age groups, but funny thing is that it is not a race to the 50, it a race to the 100. Stop trying to hinder KIDS from advancing at early ages. It will not bode well for anybody, and to the NYHL and KLEVR, PLEASE KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE AND AWAY FROM DECISIONS THAT AT THE END COULD BE HARMFUL!!
I am available to those parents who want answers to certain questions they may have regarding anything in MINOR HOCKEY!! Just look at one of my previos posts which will give you the information on how to contact me, and the cost for detailed answers
GOOD LUCK!!
