It’s OHL CUP time again starting March 30, 2026 and finals should be Easter Sunday. This tournament is a year long process where teams and individuals can show that they are worthy of the invitation. In the old days when my kids were U16 which used to be named MINOR MIDGET the tournament was held at HERB CARNEGIE.
Teams from all over looked forward to this prestigious event as it was certainly a privilege for an organization to have their team selected. At the old venue scouts form both OHL and NCAA would gather to watch some very good hockey and players that have gone on to be superstars in the NHL.
Ar Herb Carnegie no one was surprised if the line up at snack bar for their famous hot dogs was 20 mins long. It didn’t bother anyone as the hockey was continuous. At Scotia Pond where it is being played now scouts, parents and just fans need to jump arena ro arena to watch any particular game.
Enough of the nostalgia. This is the week for all those kids who are fortunate enough to be on one of the selected teams to get their “SHIT” TOGETHER. They have been scouted for probably 2 years unofficially , and now they have to change some scouts opinion of the player.
Individual success is nice , but being a big part of the teams success could alter your overall portrait to one or more teams. Body Language is paramount!! Don’t take any stupid “after the whistle” penalties, and put your team short handed. Play hard, play fast and for heavens sake please play a 200′ ft game. You never know who is watching the game , and that may change their original scouting report of you!!
